About the Winery
Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley is among Burgundy's most prestigious and historic family-owned wine estates. For seven generations, the Faiveley family has cultivated some of the region's finest vineyards, building a remarkable reputation for wines that reflect the individual character of Burgundy's celebrated terroirs.
Today, Erwan Faiveley guides the family estate alongside Technical Director and winemaker Jérôme Flous. Together, they combine generations of Burgundian tradition with meticulous vineyard management and modern winemaking precision, producing wines known for their purity, elegance and exceptional sense of place.
The Vineyard & Terroir – Vieilles Vignes
The term Vieilles Vignes, meaning "Old Vines," is particularly significant in this bottling. Sourced from approximately 20 carefully selected vineyard parcels covering nearly 10 hectares (24 acres), the Pinot Noir vines average more than 45 years of age, with some originally planted as early as 1945.
Situated in the renowned village of Gevrey-Chambertin in Burgundy's Côte de Nuits, these vineyards benefit from the region's classic limestone and clay-rich soils, contributing to the wine's structure, complexity and distinctive mineral character.
Older vines generally produce smaller yields of concentrated fruit, allowing Domaine Faiveley to craft a Gevrey-Chambertin of exceptional aromatic intensity, depth and balance.
The 2022 Vintage
The 2022 vintage is widely recognized as an excellent year for red Burgundy, combining generous fruit ripeness with impressive freshness and balance.
Warm, sunny conditions allowed Pinot Noir grapes to reach optimal maturity, while carefully timed harvests helped preserve the natural acidity and elegance essential to fine Burgundy.
For Domaine Faiveley's Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes, the result is a beautifully expressive wine offering rich black and red fruit, supple yet structured tannins and remarkable harmony.
Winemaking & Aging
Grapes are harvested by hand and meticulously sorted to ensure that only healthy, ripe fruit enters the cellar.
Fermentation and maceration are carefully managed to develop color, aromatic complexity and tannic structure while maintaining Pinot Noir's natural finesse.
The wine is aged for approximately 14 months in French oak barrels, with around 20–30% new oak. This measured barrel maturation contributes subtle spice, texture and complexity without overwhelming the character of the old-vine fruit.
Food Pairings
This beautifully structured red Burgundy pairs exceptionally well with beef bourguignon, roasted duck breast, filet mignon, grilled lamb, venison, wild mushroom risotto, slow-braised short ribs and mature French cheeses.
Serving Temperature: 57–61°F (14–16°C).
Why We Love It

With vines more than 45 years old and carefully selected parcels throughout Gevrey-Chambertin, this wine delivers an impressive combination of depth, finesse and authentic Burgundian character.
A superb choice for collectors, Burgundy enthusiasts and anyone seeking a distinguished Pinot Noir from one of the world's most celebrated wine villages.
