Derrumbes — Spanish for “landslides” — is a project dedicated to showcasing the extraordinary regional diversity of Mexican mezcal. Each expression is produced in a different state, with a different endemic agave variety, by a different maestro mezcalero, using traditional artisanal methods. The result is a collection of mezcals that reads like a map of Mexico’s most remote and storied distilling traditions.

The San Luis Potosí expression is produced in the village of Charcas by maestro mezcalero Manuel Pérez Moncada, using wild Agave Salmiana Crassispina harvested from the region’s high plateaus — a dramatically different terroir from the tropical south, producing mezcal of striking herbaceous character and aromatic complexity.

The nose is soft and inviting, with fruity undertones and light smoke, followed by tropical notes of cooked pineapple and guava. On the palate, green herbs, honeysuckle, jasmine blossom, and aromatic agave build to a savory finish with notes of green pepper and jalapeño skin — complex, distinctive, and endlessly sippable.
