Citadelle Jardin d’Été Gin — Cognac, France — 750ml
Citadelle is one of France's most celebrated gin houses, distilled in Cognac using a 19th-century copper pot still and a signature blend of 19 botanicals. Jardin d’Été — "Summer Garden" — is their most floral and aromatic expression, inspired by the lush botanicals of a French garden in full bloom. A Double Gold Medal winner at the 2021 San Francisco World Spirits Competition, it is a gin of extraordinary complexity and elegance, layering citrus, flowers, exotic spice, and fresh herbs into a profile that is as nuanced as it is beautiful.
Fresh and intense on the nose, opening with juniper, yuzu, orange peel, candied lemon, violet, and fennel, softened by gentle spice and licorice. On the palate, the gin is very delicate with beautiful freshness — the floral nose gives way to a spicier, fruitier expression of tangerine, melon, and cubeb, evolving through angelica, nutmeg, orris root, and star anise. The finish is very long, floral and fruity, with citrus, almonds, cumin, savory, and grains of paradise lingering beautifully.
