In 2002, Marc started his first winemaking project on the ground floor of his grandparents' family home in the historic center of Gandesa. Until 2011 he worked alone, making a single wine, Borretes, a varietal Cariñena. That year Lluís joined the project, the two began signing as Celler Balart, and they started producing Garnachas and growing the range. In 2020 they moved to new, more efficient facilities. Today Marc manages the vineyards, Lluís runs sales, and together they share responsibility for the winemaking.
The Wine
Àmfora Blanc is 100% Garnatxa Blanca from Terra Alta in Catalonia, rested in terracotta amphorae, a method that dates back to Roman times. The clay adds a citrusy, mineral edge to the grape's natural orchard fruit.
