About This Wine
Beringer's Knights Valley Cabernet Sauvignon has long been one of California's benchmark expressions of the variety — a wine that bridges Napa's richness with Sonoma's elegance. Sourced from the volcanic soils of Knights Valley, just east of the Mayacamas Mountains, the 2022 vintage delivers everything this appellation is known for: depth, structure, and a sense of place.
The 2022 growing season brought warmth and richness, yielding bold layers of blackcurrant, plum, and boysenberry, accented by dark chocolate, sage, and hints of tobacco and cedar. Extended maceration extracted maximum color and flavor, while 14 months in French oak (30% new) added spice and texture without overwhelming the fruit. Fine-grained tannins and bright acidity give this wine both immediate appeal and genuine aging potential.

Expert Ratings - Vintage 2021, 2020
(Vintage 2021). James Suckling 94 Points | A mix of red and black fruits with lavender and fresh herbs followed by vanilla, blanched almonds and a hint of black ink and pencil lead. Full-bodied, firm and juicy tannins with good acidity backbone. Sound and harmonious wine with beautiful drinkability. Terrific quality. This needs two or three years to take the edge off it.
(Vintage 2020). Antonio Galloni writes: The 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon Knights Valley is a bold, explosive wine. Black cherry, sweet oak, licorice, lavender and bittersweet chocolate are all dialed up. This is an especially fruit forward, voluptuous vintage for this wine, the result of a warm, dry growing season. This full-throttle Cabernet is not at all subtle, but it is sure to be a crowd pleaser . Drinking 2022 - 2027. - Vinous
(Vinous 2020). James Suckling writes: A full-bodied red with redcurrants, rust and black chocolate aromas and flavors. Savory. Granular soft tannins. Very drinkable. Give it a year or two to make it even better. - James Suckling 93
Always an appealing Cabernet Sauvignon, this deep plum-colored vintage showcases a gorgeous Bordeaux-varietal blend, with sandy, fine-grained tannins, and a plush, velvety-rich mouthfeel. Built to age and develop further complexity over time, the wine is ripe and juicy in its youth with aromas and flavors of vibrant boysenberry, strawberry preserves, and cassis alongside earthier notes of crushed stone, iron, bay laurel, and cedar. Baking spice elements from the well-integrated oak work well with the more traditional Knights Valley tones of wild lavender and bittersweet chocolate. Poised and lively with a structured, juicy, mouthwatering acidity and a finish that’s elegant, long, savory, and pleasing.
Blend: 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Cabernet Franc, 7% Merlot, 2% Malbec, 1% Petit Verdot
