Jeb Dunnuck 90 Points | Pouring a bright red color, the 2023 Rosso Di Montalcino leaps from the glass with a charming, fruity bouquet of candied red berries, pressed roses, and sweet herbs. The palate is medium-framed and underscored with a stony mineral texture, ripe tannins, even acidity, and notes of dark stones on the finish.
Memo Summary Notes
One of the historic estates of Montalcino, owned by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini.
"Baby Brunello"—sourced from younger vines of the same Sangiovese Grosso used for the estate's high-end Brunellos.
Unlike Brunello, which requires years in wood, this Rosso is aged for approximately 12 months in a combination of stainless steel and traditional oak, emphasizing primary fruit and freshness.
A classic "food wine." It pairs perfectly with pasta Bolognese, roasted poultry, legume-based soups (ribollita), and medium-aged cheeses like Pecorino Toscano.
