Critics Notes

Wine Spectator 91 points Medium- to full-bodied, fresh and balanced, this has an earthy hint on the nose that underscores the palate's ripe black cherry and blackberry fruit, crushed eucalyptus and mocha flavors, with sculpted tannins firming the finish. Drink nowJames Suckling 91 points Blackberries, cloves, bark and dried thyme. Full-bodied with tight and chewy tannins. Structured, with an elegant finish. Better give it a year or two to allow it to settle more. Drink from 2024. 

Winemaker Description

The vineyards for this wine are located in Soria which is in the far Eastern portion of Ribera del Duero. This area is not the "norm" for most wines from Ribera. The vineyards in this area tend to be very old and "ungrafted".

A mixture of limestone, decomposed granite and clay. A majority of the blend is comprised of grapes grown on the granite and clay sites with some limestone used to create structure and depth.

Bertrand Sourdais, the head of the project is working with the vineyard owners to work biodynamically and organically.

15 day macerations in Inox. Temperature controlled. Spontaneous fermentation. No fining and No filtering. 6 months in used French barrique. 

Winemaker Description

Aromas of ripe black fruit with light toast and spices. Very powerful, yet elegant, on the palate. Notes of ripe, jammy fruit with subtle toasted notes, with soft tasty tannins and a long, lingering finish.
