Using grapes grown in Mendocino County’s rugged coastal mountains, Edmeades crafts bold, intense Zinfandels of distinctive character and personality. We work side by side with a small group of growers, who year after year produce some of Mendocino County’s most highly-prized grapes. We prefer a delicate touch in our cellar, allowing each vineyard to be fully expressed in the wines we make

Earthy whites have always been of interest to Guy – Aged on lees, made in alternative vessels, with body and texture. Our White of Earth is made of Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown in cool microclimates of the upper Galilee and spontaneously fermented in clay amphora.

White of Earth is bright energetic wine, aromatic with a mouth filling texture. Aromas of exotic fruit, grapefruit, and citrus blossom lift from the glass.A mineral, energetic, full dimension white.

Vineyard

Elkosh Vineyard in the Western Galilee has a sunken vineyard that acts as a cold sink. It provides a great location for growing great whites, with prolonged ripening for extra character and complexity.

Production

The grapes (Sauvignon Blanc) were hand-picked at the end of summer and gently pressed into clay Amphora, where the juice was allowed to ferment spontaneously. The shape of the vessel allowed the yeast to circulate building mouth feel into the wine. The wine was further aged in the terracotta urns for a further six month and was bottled late in the spring.

2018 Jacques Capsouto Cuvee Marco, Grand Vin Rouge – Score: 90 Points |
This wine is a blend of 40% Grenache, 40% Mourvedre, and 20% Syrah. The nose on this wine starts ripe, it is riper than its younger 2019 brother, the Cuvee Samuel. The blend is different as well, and there is much more oak on the Marco. The nose on this wine is ripe, it feels like a Cali Rhone wine more than how the 19 Samuel felt, with black and blue fruit, sweet oak, soy sauce, ripe plum, floral notes, dark and brooding, with roasted animal, and loam. The mouth on this full-bodied wine is ripe, balanced, with good acidity, blackcurrant, blackberry, boysenberry, nice draping tannin, sweet oak, loam, and black tea. The finish on this wine is ripe, with dense black fruit, loam, mushroom, graphite, milk chocolate, and nice smoke.

Organic Winemaking: This wine is certified by the Australian Certified Organic standards and is 100% vegan. It's made without the use of chemical fertilizers and pesticides in the vineyard. With very few additions, the wine goes through wild fermentation, using only the natural yeasts present in the vineyard and on grape skins.

Tasting Notes: Crimson in color with violet hues. Spiced plums and peppercorns with fruit cake and forest floor aromas. The palate is a mix of violets and spice with hints of Dutch licorice, lingering plum and cherry flavors. This is a fruit driven, medium-bodied wine with soft, silky tannins and a persistent savory finish. 

Enjoy With: Mexican lasagna, bruschetta pasta or a Swiss brown mushroom burger with caramelized onions and crispy potato chips.

Aromas of red currant, raspberry and cherry flow from the glass. Notes of dark chocolate, fresh thyme and warm forest floor are joined.

Jeb Dunnuck 94 Points | A bright red hue, the 2021 Barolo Riva Del Bric is elegant and lifted with pretty, layered aromas of ripe cranberries, fresh roses, dried earth, and brambly fresh herbs. Medium-bodied and linear, it floats on the palate with fine tannins, a refreshing spine of acidity, and elegant notes of salted orange citrus on the finish. It's a beautifully detailed Barolo to enjoy now or over the coming 12-15 years and is even a step up from my last tasting of the 2019 vintage.

The Wine Advocate 94 Points | The Paolo Conterno 2021 Barolo Riva del Bric has a bright bouquet with pretty clarity and purity of aromas. You taste the wine's Nebbiolo character with wild berry, dark currant and blue flower. This wine is also recognized by a hint of something metallic or sanguine like rusty nail or shaved pencil. This site sits at a cool 300 to 350 meters in elevation, and the vines are 25 years old. The wine ages in botte grande for 36 months, and 20,000 bottles were made.

James Suckling 93 Points | An intense and vibrant Barolo with aromas of dried flowers, blood orange peel, sweet violets, earth, minerals and overall elegance. Full-bodied on the palate, it shows velvety and dusty tannins, refreshing acidity and a long, juicy finish that's stern yet balanced. Try after 2025.

Jancis Robinson 17/20 Points | Pale ruby. Deep, exotic spice and ripe red-cherry-fruit nose with a hint of cinnamon bark. Super-attractive juicy cherry-fruit palate with cinnamon touches and long, finely ground tannins. Hedonistic.

The Musar Jeune (formally known as Cuvée Rouge) is the second wine of Château Musar. This red has some spicy Syrah added to the regular mix of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cinsault. Great dark cherry fruit on the palate with palpable yet approachable tannins.

La Valentina's Bellovedere is the winery's highest expression of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo. It is a single-vineyard wine from the subzone of Terre dei Vestini, in the rolling hills near the Abruzzo coast and the city of Pescara. The Bellovedere is intended to demonstrate the great possibilities of Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, and as such the wine is produced only in the years with great weather conditions and fully mature grapes. The Bellovedere vineyard takes its name from a park in the center of Spoltore with a view of the vineyards and the ridgeline of the Gran Sasso peaks behind, as shown on the label.

we are ecstatic to get to know the site and make our estate grown, single vineyard

Great aromatic intensity of ripe black fruits, blackberries, prunes, black liquorice and spices. The palate is powerful, with big sweet tannins; creamy mouthfeel with a round, long and silky finish.

Deep ruby red in color with violet hues and a full and persistent fragrance; notes of prune and cherry jam, sensations of caramel and pepper that reinforce a very interesting nose indicating a strong body; on the palate it is wide and warm, with flavors of pulpy fruit; it has a very long finish with scents of raisins and almonds.

This alluring wine opens with notes of sarsaparilla, Bing cherries, and ripe wild strawberries. Do not let the Russian River Valley Pinot Noir’s seductive introduction fool you, it is a complex wine. Layered notes of anise and dried sage encourage the drinker to explore the depth of flavors in the glass. Vinous 98 Points | Is it possible to create a wine with structure but without weight? The 2021 Cabernet Franc Gran Enemigo Gualtallary offers a remarkable answer to that apparent paradox, finding the solution in a balanced combination of terroir and careful cellar work. It's almost utopian—a mountain wine with the structure and character of high-altitude vineyards, yet with the agility and freshness of an oceanic red. Purple in hue, it opens with blackberry and plum, layered with mountain herbs, a hint of sour cherry, cassis and floral tones of violet and lavender. Dry and juicy, with a slightly compact feel, the wine glides across the palate with weightless grace, supported by fine, chalky tannins. This wine is a triumph.

The Wine Spectator 93 Points | Elegant and pure, featuring cherry, raspberry, floral and mineral aromas and flavors. Solidly built, with a grip of dense, dusty tannins on the finish. Nonetheless, this stays balanced and persistent on the herb-infused aftertaste. Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Canaiolo.

Brilliant color, intense, lovely red fruits, silky and rich attack. Deeply coloured with purple reflection. Fruity on the nose, dominated by morello cherry and almond paste. Medium-bodied on the palate, priority is given to the fruit. Turning more intense on the finish with good tannins.

T Cuvée Rosso is a light, fruity red wine which is perfect for summer and is best served chilled. It’s a combination of the history and winemaking tradition of Alto Adige. The grapes come from vineyards planted in calcareous clay and gravel soils at an altitude between 250 and 550 meters.

Made with selected grapes grown on lava terraces at an average altitude of 720 m above sea level, these Etna wines represent a unique combination of the typical elegance of mountain wine and minerality due to volcanic origin. The extraordinary wealth of minerals in Etna's volcanic soils is the source of the very sapid and typical flavor of the wines produced here.  The quality of the soil is closely tied to Etna’s volcanic origins, as it was formed through the disintegration of lavas with different compositions and from different eras, and eruptive materials such as sands, ashes, pumice stone and “lapilli”. Even the climate distinguishes the Etna area respect to the rest of Sicily. The average temperatures on the mountains are lower and the climate also changes depending on the slope and the altitude. From a winemaking standpoint, the wine diurnal temperature range is fundamental, as it gives the wines their freshness and elegant aromas.

The Wine Advocate 97 Points | The 2020 Aluvional Gualtallary is more floral and expressive, a little more exuberant than the 2019 I tasted next to it. In 2020, they harvested some 10 days earlier than in 2019 (they started in February!), and the wines finished with similar alcohol levels (14%) and even with a slightly lower pH and higher acidity in 2020, so with very good freshness. They fermented with some 30% to 50% of stems in the vinification (they use grapes from three different vineyards that are vinified separately, all in the Monasterio part of Gualtallary) and matured the wine in concrete. This is very young, and the palate reveals the inner notes of thyme and rockrose, the violets and the small berries. The texture is akin to liquid chalk, a mineral and austere wine, with very fine tannins and a long, dry finish.
