Vinous 91 Points | Dusty and floral, the 2022 Barco Reale opens in the glass with a pretty blend of autumnal spices, cedar shavings, Tuscan dust and dried strawberries. It sweeps across the palate with ease, soft-textured and supple, while mineral-tinged red berry fruits slowly saturate toward the close. A web of fine tannins frames the experience as the 2022 finishes with hints of orange citrus and a tart cherry twang.
James Suckling 91 Points | A dense, compact and well-framed carmignano with aromas of red berries, clay and flowers. It’s medium-bodied with firm tannins. Textured, with a powdery touch. Densely fruited with a focused finish.
The Wine Spectator 90 Points | Black currant and cherry fruit is prominent in this vibrant, juicy red. There are also flavors of graphite, olive and tobacco underlined by dusty tannins. This leaves a mouthwatering impression. Drink now through 2028. 1,100 cases made, 3,400 cases imported.

Named after the historic Medici property known as "Barco Reale" - meaning Royal Property - which was established in 1626. Today Sangiovese, Cabernet and Canaiolo grow in this ancient area that was a hunting preserve surrounded by walls over 30 miles long. Barco Reale is a younger version of Carmignano that received DOC status in 1994.
Purplish dark and deep red with ruby red shades. On the nose, sweet, ample, elegant, very intense and fruity with light tones of oak. Soft, voluminous, ample with sweet tannins of medium density in good balance with the acidity. Fruity, long lasting finish.
