Made from 100% Pinot Noir, “Les Chaillots” comes from Aloxe-Corton, the historic home of the Latour family in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune. The vineyard’s name derives from “caillou,” meaning pebble, a reference to its stony soils of limestone, alluvial sand, and gravel.
Grapes are harvested by hand from vines averaging 35 years of age. Traditional fermentation in open vats is followed by ten to twelve months in French oak barrels, 35% new, crafted at Louis Latour’s own cooperage.

94 points by James Suckling: Here’s the proof that Aloxe-Corton can produce well-structured and sophisticated wines. Only red fruit, but at the riper end of that spectrum, with just a hint of positive vegetal character. The healthy tannins build very nicely in the finish, and there’s a mineral freshness that gives this an extra dimension.
