Domaine Bernard Baudry Chinon Les Granges 2024 750ml
Bernard Baudry is one of the best and most reliable Chinon producers.
Expert Review
Bernard Baudry is one of the best and most reliable Chinon producers. Les Granges is the introductory bottle, made from young cabernet franc vines, farmed organically, and intended for early drinking. It’s lively, juicy and earthy, and easy to enjoy. It would be especially good with the dark meat and earthy tuber dishes. Eric Asimov - The New York Times.

Winemaker Description
The Granges vines are an 8-hectare alluvial site along the Vienne River in Cravant, very close to the winery, planted in 1985 and 1988 and farmed organically like the rest of the estate. This is a wine that is supple and fruity with smoky cherry fruit and is meant to drink young. It is a perfect wine for simple foods and cheeses.
Memo Summary Notes
The Domaine Bernard Baudry Chinon "Les Granges" 2024 is the quintessential "bistro wine" of the Loire Valley. While the Baudry family is famous for age-worthy, structured Cabernet Franc, Les Granges is their most approachable cuvée—designed for immediate pleasure and "gulpability.".
Vintage Note: 2024 was a demanding year with high rainfall, but for this specific cuvée, it resulted in a wine with "electric acidity" and lower alcohol, emphasizing freshness over power.
The ultimate companion for charcuterie, pâté, roasted chicken with herbs, or a simple baguette and goat cheese. It is also one of the few reds light enough to pair with grilled salmon.
