Producer Description
Sambuca is a sweet liqueur based on star anise (Illicium Verum). It is part of the category of refreshing liqueurs of Mediterranean origin, among which there are: The French Pastis, the Greek Ouzo, the Spanish Anis, the Turikish Raki and the eastern neighboring Arak.
It differs from anise liqueur or Mistrà due to its high sugar content: at least 350 g/l, with a minimum alcohol content of 38% vol. (Reg. EC 110/2008).
At Poli Distilleries, it was produced from the post-war period until the 1980s and has now been reintroduced.
Elisir Sambuca Poli is colorless, with an intense anise aroma, velvety, and pleasantly sweet. It can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks, flambé, in cocktails, or with the "fly" (a coffee bean).
Also worth trying in the ‘rasentin,’ a Venetian ritual with coffee. Plain, on the rocks, with a coffee bean, as correction for the coffee, flambé or in the cocktails.
