Winemaker Description 

Medium to full-bodied red wine made with grapes harvested from the Vaziani micro zone in the Kartli region of Georgia. Ripe, red berries expressions characterize this wine, followed by dry fruits. Pairs well with veal, lamb, pork and hard cheeses.

The Kapistoni Tavkveri 2019 is a fascinating example of a "transitional" red from Georgia—lighter and more aromatic than the dense Saperavi you might be used to, but with the distinct, raw energy of ancient winemaking.

While Saperavi is known as the "powerhouse" of Georgia, Tavkveri (the "Hammerhead" grape) is known for being floral, herbal, and highly "drinkable." This 2019 vintage from winemaker Niko Chochishvili is a soulful, biodynamic expression from the Kartli region.
