Producer & Terroir
Founded in 1825 in Nuits-Saint-Georges, Domaine Faiveley brings generations of Burgundian experience to this small parcel in Les Rugiens Hauts. Acquired by the estate in 2007, the half-hectare vineyard is planted with vines dating to 1953, on a steep hillside with eastern and southeastern exposure and predominantly limestone soils.
Les Rugiens is one of Pommard's most celebrated Premier Cru sites, admired for wines of concentration, structure and longevity. Here, mature vines and a well-drained hillside setting lend depth and definition to Faiveley's Pinot Noir.
Winemaker Description
Winemaker's Notes, as supplied in the listing: Deep ruby-red in color, this distinguished Burgundy reveals an inviting bouquet of ripe black cherries, dark berries and subtle spice, complemented by delicate woody and smoky nuances.
On the palate, the wine is powerful, concentrated and beautifully structured. Rich dark-fruit flavors unfold alongside polished yet substantial tannins, while lively acidity provides freshness and balance. Subtle oak, warm spice and earthy complexity contribute additional depth.
The finish is long and persistent, revealing a harmonious interplay between concentrated fruit, refined tannins and the distinctive character of the Les Rugiens vineyard.
Winemaking & Aging
Careful harvesting and manual and optical sorting precede traditional Burgundian fermentation with controlled temperatures and measured extraction. Maturation lasts approximately 14 months in French oak barrels, around one-third new, complementing the wine's dark fruit with subtle smoky and spicy notes.
Pairing & Serving
Pair with roasted duck breast, beef Wellington, rack of lamb, venison or wild mushroom risotto. Serve at 60–64°F (16–18°C), and consider decanting when opening a young bottle.
