Smoke, tar, and char on the nose along with stewed plums, blackberries, and figs. The palate is softer on the tongue than the nose might suggest. Berries and figs come through with a little black pepper and cinnamon. Woody tannins settle into the sides of the tongues and linger a little with a background of umami. Pair with game meats, bbq, honeyed hams, and dark chocolate.

All five malts from the region’s three distilleries have been used to produce this Blended Malt. The beginning of this legacy is born from the red Earth of Jesus Maria, in the highlands of Jalisco, among abundant fields of blue agave and the vision on Don Ricardo Lopez, who thanks to his passion for work and dedication from many years, has made Casa Campo Azul a reference in the art of making tequila of the highest quality.

1940 is a very important year for us. It was the year of the birth of our founder, Don Ricardo Lopez, who decided to venture into the world of tequila, inheriting all of his father’s knowledge about the growing and caring of agave azul in his hometown Jesus Maria, Jalisco in the highland’s region.

The process begins when new plants (plant shoots) born from the mother plant are extracted and planted in a new field where they will grow and develop for 7-8 years before finally being harvested. The agave is cooked in an ancestral type of masonry oven for 30 hours in direct contact with steam and continues cooking for another 24 hours for clow cooking down and rest on the pina.

This slow cooking of the agave heads ensures a uniform cooking of the plant that gives the beverage more complex aromas and flavors.

From there the agave is milled and fermented for 78 hours until the fermentation reaches the desired richness, then double distilled in stainless steel stills.

The Reposado is aged in American white oak barrels in our cellar.

Forbes Magazine: This is an exceptionally smooth Cognac. Matured for four years. On the nose, it offers up rich floral aromas of violet, jasmine, roses, white flowers and peonies, along with intense fruity notes of sweet caramel apples, honey and both fresh and dried fruit, especially prune, peach and apricot, along with Sauterne like notes of golden raisin and fig, as well as some passion fruit and a touch of vanilla. There is also an earthy, black tea like quality in the background, and a hint of waxiness.

Recently, Camus, the largest of the family owned Cognac producers, released a new addition to its core range of Cognacs—labeled Intensely Aromatic. The Cognacs were the culmination of a two-decade long effort to craft Cognacs that are notably more aromatic and flavorful than the norm.

Camus’ Cognacs have always had a reputation for being particularly aromatic. To further enhance that character Camus developed a proprietary distillation protocol, which it calls “Intensity,” that measurably increases the concentration of terpenes and esters in their Cognac, producing what the company describes as an “instant of intensity.”

Terpenes are a large and diverse class of organic compounds, produced by a variety of plants. They are closely associated with floral aromas. Esters are chemicals produced by the interaction of alcohols and fatty acids, and are closely associated with fruity aromas.

In crafting Intensely Aromatic, the firm utilized older casks made from lightly toasted, fine grained oak. The age and toasting of the casks minimized the aroma and flavor components that were contributed by the cask wood and further enhanced the prominence of fruit and floral aromas.

Can Sumoi La Rosa Rosé — Penèdes, Catalonia 2025

Can Sumoi is one of Catalonia’s most exciting natural wine producers, farming certified organic and biodynamic vineyards in the Penèdes at 600 metres altitude on poor clay-limestone soils. La Rosa is their benchmark rosé — a blend of 60% Sumoll and 40% Xarel-lo sourced from 20 to 60-year-old vines, made with just 2 hours of skin maceration, indigenous yeast fermentation in tank, and minimal sulfur at bottling (<25mg/L). A 90-point biodynamic Catalan rosé from one of Penèdes’ most dedicated natural producers — Can Sumoi La Rosa is the benchmark for what Sumoll and Xarel-lo can deliver in a glass.

Winemaker Description 

Arenisca is 100% Tinta de Toro from the Paraje Los Panaderos vineyard in neighboring Benialbo (within D.O. Toro), which is among the highest elevation sites in the appellation. Grapes were hand-harvested, wild yeast fermented with 40% stem inclusion in open vats with 30 days of maceration, then raised for 11 months in used French oak barrels.

The finished wine is bottled unfiltered, and just a touch of sulfur is added at bottling. 

Production Description

High on the hills above the Val di Chiana, the hilltop town of Montepulciano has been shaping Sangiovese — here called Prugnolo Gentile — into something distinctly aristocratic for centuries. Cantine Dei is among its finest custodians. Founded when Alibrando Dei acquired the legendary Bossona vineyard in 1964, the estate reached its full expression under his granddaughter Caterina, who returned to Montepulciano in the early 1990s with a singular conviction: that these wines exist to reveal their land, not obscure it. The first Dei Vino Nobile was released from the exceptional 1985 harvest. Four decades on, the intention hasn't changed.

Antica Erboristeria Cappelletti was founded in 1909 in the historic Piazza Fiera in the center of Trento — a firm rooted from the very beginning in the tradition of herbs, roots, and flowers of the Alpine foothills. Today, four generations later, Luigi and Maddalena Cappelletti continue all production in-house from their home in Aldeno, 20 km south of Trento, surrounded by vineyards and apple orchards. Alta Verde is their traditional wormwood amaro: a style that was once common throughout the Adriatic but has become increasingly rare over the last half century. This is the real thing — uncompromising, botanical, and built for those who take their bitters seriously.

The principal ingredient is assenzio — a variety of wormwood — framed and lightened by a complementary blend of alpine herbs, citrus, and spice. The result is a deeply bitter, aromatic amaro with a drying finish and genuine complexity. Using the classic Cardenal Mendoza Brandy as its base, Angelus is made by blending in the essences of the natural ingredients, principally bitter macerated orange peel and cardamom, and ageing the blend in butts already seasoned with Sherry to achieve perfect balance.

Christopher Loewen is one of the Mosel’s most quietly celebrated winemakers — a craftsman who farms organically, ferments with native yeasts in large Fuder casks without temperature control, and lets each wine find its own expression. The Estate Riesling comes entirely from the Liewener Klostergarten, a site with richer soils than Loewen’s steep single-vineyard parcels, formerly bottled as a Kabinett and now declassified to “Estate” to preserve the single-vineyard designation for the estate’s highest-quality expressions.
