Winemaker Description 

Originating from wild vines, Orangetraube was first selected as a recognized varietal in 1840 and has been a part of the Zahel family's field blends (Gemischter Satz) since the winery began in 1930, but only produced as a monovarietal white since 1954.

Two generations later, Alexander Zahel is the last remaining producer of this unique treasure of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. 

This unique historic variety from Vienna's vineyards is fresh, complex, and edgy, with under ripe stone fruit and zippy acidity. 

Shaped to emphasize the best characteristics of truly fine red wine: density, power, extracts and tannins, brought together to form a whole that is much more than the sum of its parts.The Bordeaux glass is the perfect vehicle for Bordeaux- but also Brunello, Tempranillo, Sangiovese, Rioja, Merlot, St. Laurent, Zweigelt, Blaufrankisch, Shiraz, Cabernets (Franc and Sauvignon) and similarly styled red wines.

The height of the glass is 9.1 inches and it is 4.3 inches at its widest part. The volume capacity is 765 ml.

This is the largest glass in the Zalto line, and can actually hold a full bottle of wine, though you would never guess that because despite its size, the glass itself still feels light and agile in your hand. The design was not based on being the largest just for the sake of it- as with the entire line, the angles follow that of the Earth tilt angles of 24, 48 and 72 degrees. 

The size here is to allow for your biggest, most powerful and expressive wines to fully breathe and develop. For the alcohol to integrate with the fruit notes; the acid to balance the tannins (and, when necessary, the oak.)

Use this glass with mighty Cabernets and Chardonnays, the most powerful Nebbiolo, Barbaresco, Barolo and Barberas, and Pinots that lean towards the fruit-bomb style. It is also fascinating to see what an older vintage, more complex white wine will do here, such as a cellared Gruner Veltliner Smaragd or Reserve.

Zalto is today one of the big names in professional glassmaking in the wine world. The classic Blaufränkisch from Zantho shows a fine fruit reminiscent of blackberries with a hint of cinnamon. Juicy berries on the palate are supported by a very harmonious acid and tannin structure.

Winemaker Description

Made from Glera grapes sourced from various vineyards in the hilly part of the DOC region, northeast of Conegliano.

The first fermentation takes place after a brief maceration, which enhances the typical citrus and tropical aromas of the Glera grapes. These intense, fruity aromas are preserved through the second fermentation, which takes place in large temperature controlled stainless steel containers.

Winemaker Description

The Amarone is considered a top wine in Veneto. Its incredible aromas derive from the strict selection of the grape material of the grape varieties Corvino, Rondinella and Sangiovese. After drying for 4 months on straw mats and fermenting these particularly concentrated grapes, the 30 months are aged in French and Slavonian oak. Only after another year on the bottle does the Amarone leave the Zenato family winery on Lake Garda.

The Amarone della Valpolicella Classico from Zenato is made from grapes from the classical Valpolicella region and is the jewel in the wine production of the Zenato family.

Winemaker Description

This hand harvested, 100% Malbec wine is from multiple vineyards in the Uco Valley. The wine predominantly shows notes of coffee, blueberry, and chocolate with secondary notes of licorice, black cherry, cinnamon, baking spices, and sage.

The complexity of the wine extends into the palate by being big and bold without being flabby, with smooth tannins and light acidity. The wine finishes extremely strong with plum, cassis, doughnut cake, and fine silky tannins. A wine that out delivers it’s price by tenfold!

Wine Advocate 92 Points:  The 2021 Q Malbec comes from Altamira and Chacayes and was made with a significant part of full clusters (especially Altamira) and aged mostly in concrete to keep that sense of purity. It has notes of some blue fruit, aromatic herbs and a citrus twist, reminiscent of green tea. It is floral, expressive, perfumed and fine-boned, with a medium-bodied palate where the tannins are fine and there's some grip. 500,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in February 2022. — Luis Gutiérrez Rating: 

92+James Suckling 93 Points:  A spicy malbec with a touch of fine herbs, oyster sauce and dark minerals to the fresh blueberries. A very fresh and nicely chewy expression of malbec with a medium to full body on the palate. Tannins are tight, fresh and grained. Mostly from Paraje Altamira and Los Chacayes. Try in 2025.
