Vinous 97 Points | The 2021 Tiglat is a pure Chardonnay from the oldest vines of the estate, planted in 1959. Smoothness dominates the nose, which offers almost salty hints of lanolin, a touch of Mirabelle and a lovely note of straw. The palate is intense, concentrated and pervasive, with uncompromising nakedness, dynamicism and drive, dripping with lemon brightness, all bound up in earthiness reminiscent of fresh cep mushroom and profound, cooling limestone. Clarity is everything here. The finish is long, serene, touching and memorable. (Bone-dry). Tiglat, which comes from the original plantings from 1959, is the crown jewel of the line-up. The wine is fermented naturally and kept on the full lees for at least 24 months.

Velich Tiglat Chardonnay 2021 (750ml)
A benchmark Austrian Chardonnay, Velich Tiglat 2021 is a powerful yet impeccably balanced expression from Burgenland, widely regarded as one of the estate’s flagship wines. Sourced from old vines and crafted with meticulous attention to detail, Tiglat represents the pinnacle of precision, depth, and age-worthy structure.
The bouquet is complex and layered, revealing aromas of ripe stone fruit, baked apple, and citrus zest, interwoven with notes of hazelnut, brioche, and finely integrated oak. On the palate, it is full-bodied and richly textured, yet lifted by vibrant acidity and a striking mineral backbone. Flavors of orchard fruit, lemon cream, and subtle spice unfold seamlessly into a long, structured, and elegant finish.
This is a serious, cellar-worthy Chardonnay that pairs beautifully with lobster, scallops, roasted poultry, and dishes featuring rich, buttery sauces.
