My colleague, New York Wine Buyer Jeremiah Charles and I recently spent four days in New York's Finger Lakes region. Here we visited nine wineries with the objective to learn all we could about riesling in the area. We were amazed by the quality, power, and delicacy of many of the wines we tasted. It was proof to me that riesling in the Finger Lakes can be as compelling as many of the better German rieslings, while possessing their own unique regional character. We were lucky to be able to the brains of the winemakers and other winery representatives and to get their perspectives on what makes the Finger Lakes region ideal for growing and producing great riesling. I thought it would be fun to share some of their insights with our 67 Wine customers, so I will post them here over the next few days, beginning with Fox Run's John Mourey.
