From The Vineyard to your Table

From The Vineyard to your Table

As we shift our attention to spring—after a long, cold winter on the East Coast—I find myself craving a palate refresh and reset. Spring is always my favorite season to explore new wines arriving at the warehouses of distributors in New York.

One such wine that perfectly embodies this seasonal transition is Louise Chereau Vices & Vertus Orgueil Méthode Traditionnelle Rosé Brut NV. Hailing from the Muscadet region of the Loire in France, this captivating sparkler is crafted entirely from estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon using the traditional méthode traditionnelle (where the second fermentation occurs in the bottle). Its vibrant, eye-catching label is sure to draw you in, but it’s the wine itself that truly impresses.

Tasting Notes:

On the nose, you’ll encounter an enticing bouquet of wild red berries—raspberries, strawberries, and red currants. The palate continues the red berry theme, delivering a tangy, fruit-forward experience complemented by a delightful saline minerality that adds complexity. The finish is crisp and dry, with a bright, natural acidity that makes this wine a fantastic choice as an aperitif or a versatile companion to food.

Classified as a Brut with a dosage of 7 g/L, this Loire sparkler is ideal for playful food and wine pairings, from picnic favorites to sushi, and even Indian and Latin cuisines.
