Neal Martin writes:  The 2023 Chablis Vieilles Vignes de Sainte Claire comes from 50-60 year old vines. Clearly a level up from the regular cuvée. This displays more mineralité and nuance on the nose with hints of white truffle. The palate is well balanced with a fine line of acidity, quite tensile with pleasing weight. Very harmonious on the finish. This is worth seeking out.  - Drinking 2025 to 2035.  - Vinous 90

Mâcon-Lugny Les Charmes comes from the predominantly limestone plateau of the same name, located in the town of Lugny. This wine with an ample, velvety and spicy mouthfeel reveals floral and fruity aromas (honey, acacia, citrus) which gives it a unique style of this particular plot of vines in the Mâconnais region. The 2022 Mâcon-Lugny Les Genièvres has a bright pale yellow color with green hues. Its nose reveals aromas of honeysuckle and linden. Its mouth, ample and very round, unveils notes of almond and chlorophyll. Nice fresh finish. Winemaker Description.

Louis Latour Macon-Villages Chameroy reveals a pale yellow color. Its nose offers aromas of white flowers and honey. Its mouth is round and displays notes of fresh almond. Winemaker Description. 

"An equally fresh if less spicy nose freely offers up its aromas of apple, pear, white flower and a touch of orange peel. The mouthfeel of the medium weight flavors is also quite lovely while the lingering, balanced and equally dry finale is sufficiently tightly wound to repay a few years of keeping. The aromas of white flowers, peach, grilled almond and lemon peel dominate on a mineral-tinged background. The attack is full and warm on the palate with a lively and long lasting finish.

Bart Hopkins of 67Wine.com | Slightly richer and fleshier than village Chablis, more reminiscent of a premier cru, with an impressive balance of honeyed apple, stone and tropical fruits with underlying mineral notes that builds into a crescendo of harmonious complexity. 90 Points Decanter | Domaine Yvon Vocoret is a small family estate dating back to 1713. The label states 'Qualite, Noblesse, Respect du Terroir'. A generous Chablis in 2021 with fleshy notes of apple and pear fruit with a touch of peach adding more weight and ripeness. This is all kept fresh by a fine line of acidity. Clean, modern and juicy on the palate, this will appeal to both Chablis lovers and those who like a slightly richer style of Chardonnay. (2021).

Pale gold in color, Le Finage Chablis is fairly discreet on the nose at first, revealing notes of sweet spices (vanilla). After opening, more fruity aromas appear (pear juice) with slight vegetal and lemon hints. The palate is fresh with well-balanced acidity. The whole is simple and rich with great energy.

Drink as an aperitif or with a platter of fine charcuterie.

92 Points Wine Enthusiast | Delicately fragrant with lemon verbena and pithy lemons, accompanied by hints of baby’s breath and fresh almonds. The palate reveals additional layers of broken seashell, lemongrass and white stone. An enjoyable wine with impressive length. (2020).

The color of the wine is bright and limpid. The nose is floral and fruity. Very straightforward and direct on the palate, as if biting into a grape. Fresh and light, with a very pleasant finish. 100% Chardonnay

The Vitallis Pouilly Fuisse has great concentration on the nose, reflecting the old vines. Intense aromas of dried fruits, Acacia, nuts and honey. Very long in the mouth with elegant, but ripe flavors, minerality and spiciness. Winemaker Description.

Allen Meadows writes;  Ripe though not aggressive sauvignon blanc aromas include plenty of citrus, lemongrass and only a suggestion of the classic cat pee character. Once again the middleweight flavors possess an appealing mouthfeel that is in keeping with the clean, dry and lingering finale where a few years of keeping should help to add depth.  Drinking from 2025.  - Burghound 🖤 Outstanding

Neal Martin writes:  The 2022 Saint-Bris Exogyra Virgula is rather entrancing on the nose: Golden Delicious, elderflower, grassy meadow and lanolin scents. The palate is well defined with a potent menthol component. A touch of aniseed makes the finish very distinctive. Very fine. With further aeration the nose reminds me of Japanese shiso leaf.  Drinking 2024 to 2032.  - Vinous 90

Winery Notes

Domaine Goisot's place in the wine world is beautifully summed up by Burghound's Allen Meadows: "No one but no one delivers more quality for the price than Goisot. The quality is flat out amazing, particularly given the modest appellations with which he works".

Guilhem and and father Jean-Hugues Goisot, like all top vignerons in France, recognize that great wine comes from great viticulture, and they work tirelessly in the vines to ensure that their parcels are as well care for as possible. Their viticulture is certified biodynamic, with great pains taken to produce as natural an environment for the vines, and a particular goal of stimulating the natural defenses of the vines against disease and depredation.

Here’s the meaning behind the bottle’s name: “Exogyra” is an extinct genus of fossil marine oysters dating back to the Jurassic era, deposited deep into the earth under the vines; “Virgula” means comma, referring to the curved shape of the oyster shells. The wine also happens to go remarkably well with oysters.

Pale yellow color with hints of green. You get on the nose a touch of oak, lots of finesse and minerality with white flowers, lemon and apple scents. On the mouth, the wine is fresh, round and fruity with aromas of melon, kiwi, peaches and apricot and a nice minerality. Overall, the wine is nicely balanced and fresh with a great length. Pale yellow color with hints of gold and green. Powerful notes of minerality and yellow fruits. Rounded and rich with a good structure and lengthy finish.

 Enjoy as an aperitif or with seafood, veal, goat cheese, or gruyère.

Burghound 92 Points | There is a whiff of the exotic on the white and yellow peach, citrus and floral-inflected aromas. The texture of the medium-bodied flavors is at once rich but sleek with excellent minerality on the impressively persistent finale. I quite like this, and it should amply repay extended keeping. 

Charles Curtis MW writes:  A classic Aligoté that expresses the essence of the grape with profuse aromas of gooseberry, fresh tarragon and flint. The wine offers bright acidity, medium body and impressive length. The yield was down by an average of 75% this year, with only three bunches per vine, not the 10-12 that are customary, but this light fruit load ensured the grapes ripened to perfection.  Drinking 2022 - 2030  - Decanter 92

Alan Meadows writes:  A very aligoté nose features notes of bright citrus, green apple and a whiff of quinine character. There is both excellent richness and density to the vibrant middleweight flavors that exude a subtle salinity on the clean and quite dry but not really austere finale. Winemaker Notes

Wine Advocate 91 Points | The 2018 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Les Champs Gain is showing nicely, exhibiting notions of white currant, fresh peach, almond paste and ripe citrus. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, open-knit but incisive, with good underlying tension and a mouthwatering finish. I suspect it will come together further with additional élevage.

This fabulous Bourgogne is a dead ringer for a top quality Meursault, and for good reason. Matrot’s vineyards lie mostly in Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault-Blagny, and the winemaking for the Bourgogne is made with the same special care as the top wines. This delicious 2021 Bourgogne is round and fleshy with flavors and aromas of white peach, pear and nectarine. Plump in the mouth with a delightful mid palate that finishes with lively freshness and and just a shade of toasty oak. Great with chicken, fish and vegetarian dishes.

Matrot Bourgogne Blanc is 100% Chardonnay from vines with an average age of 20 years. Pressed as whole bunches in a pneumatic press. Fermentation with indigenous yeasts in oak barrels (20% new) for eight to 10 weeks at temperatures of 18-20°C. Undergoes complete MLF and is matured on lees (no stirring) for 12 months. Spends one month in stainless steel to prepare the wine for bottling.

This white wine is made from Chardonnay harvested by hand near the Meursault appellation vineyards. It offers white-fleshed fruit aromas, with a bold attack on the palate and a round finish. Best tasted young. Winemaker Description.

89-92 points Jasper Morris |  Fresh pale lemon. The bouquet has a little more refinement than the St-Aubin, offering apple, fennel and citrus notes. Clean, lean and pure on the nose, extremely refreshing. While there is little reduction on the nose, the finish has a lively mineral limestone feeling. Drink from 2025-2028. 

88-90 points Burghound | Bright and fresh aromas of resin, petrol and lemon zest introduce slightly bigger and richer though less mineral-driven flavors that are at once generous but reasonably precise on the lingering and agreeably dry finale. This relatively forward effort could use better depth so I would suggest holding it for a few years first. 

88-90 points Wine Advocate | The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet Cuvée Margot reveals aromas of peach, freshly baked bread, oatmeal and spices, followed by a medium to full-bodied, ample palate with a fleshy core of fruit, lively acids and a slightly lactic finish. 

Wine Spectator | Harmonious and buttery this white features creamy lemon peach baking spice and sweet butter flavors. Well-balanced and integrated this is very approachable now yet with vibrant acidity underneath and a lingering tangy mineral-laced finish. Best from 2025 through 2038.

B.S.Burghound 91 Points |There are vague Chablis-like hints of iodine and seashore to the ultra-fresh aromas of green apple white flower and citrus peel. There is both good volume and richness to the focused and moderately powerful flavors that deliver fine length on the mineral-driven appealingly dry and youthfully austere finale. At present the mid-palate isn't especially dense though I suspect that with age it will flesh out significantly. (Drink starting 2030).

Magnificently concentrated, a very fine nose with aromas of acacias, honeysuckle blossoms and nuts. Very pure and powerful with superb depth that will age up to 10 years.
Serve with shellfish, lobster, foie gras and poultry dishes in creamy sauces.

WINEMAKING & VINTAGE NOTES

The Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru vineyards straddle the communes of Pernard Vergellesses and Aloxe-Corton and enjoy a south westerly exposure. The soil here is white marl, and almost pure limestone. Grapes are hand-harvested and then carried to the winery in small boxes, where they are sorted. Fermentation is carried out at 64-68°F in oak casks. Lees are stirred in the casks twice a week. Wines are aged in 50% new French oak. Winemaker Description.

Tim Atkin 90 Points | This wine can be enjoyed young (2-3 years old) with fish or poultry terrines, or with grilled or poached fish. It also goes well with asparagus, which is normally difficult to match, as well as exotic cuisine: it can handle curries or tandoori dishes and it also balances out the mellow and subtle texture of sushi. Or you could simply drink it as a splendid pre-dinner drink. It harmonizes well with goat cheeses, as well as Beaufort, Comté, or Emmental. 

Clay-limestone terroir with little depth before reaching the bedrock. Gentle to very steep slopes. Surface area: 3.43 ha located in the heart of the Verzé valley, "Les Chênes" comprises two south-west-facing parcels.

The vines are cultivated biodynamically.

Harvesting is entirely manual, and pressing is carried out in Verzé. After decanting, the musts are transported daily to Puligny- Montrachet for fermentation and ageing, under the watchful eye of Domaine Leflaive's technical team. Vinification takes place in vats, and ageing lasts from 15 to 16 months.

Pressing: Long, gentle pneumatic pressing, 24-hour decanting followed by settling.

Fermentation: 55% in stainless steel tanks, 42% in cement tanks and 3% in new oak barrels.

Ageing: After 10 months' ageing on lees in fermentation containers, the wine is racked into stainless steel tanks and aged on fine lees for 6 months. Winemaker Description. 

Burghound | A much more floral-inflected nose freely offers up its aromas of cool and ripe pear, apple and zest. There is good richness if not quite the same density to the more finely textured middleweight flavors that conclude in a crunchy bitter lemon-tinged finale. Lovely and understated.

Allen Meadows writes:  An exuberantly spicy nose reflects notes of petrol, various citrus and white orchard fruit, in particular pear. The gorgeously textured and highly seductive medium-bodied flavors also possess fine mid-palate density before terminating in a balanced, firm and youthfully austere finale. Neal Martin writes:  The 2020 Saint-Aubin en Montceau 1er Cru is quintessentially Saint-Aubin on the nose, offering green apples, oyster shells and just a touch of petrichor, all showing wonderful delineation. The intense palate is very well balanced with fine-grained tannins and a judicious touch of spice and orange peel toward the sustained finish. Maybe it needs a little more on the aftertaste; otherwise, this is impressive... and delicious.  Drinking 2024 - 2048.  - Vinous 92-94

The Colin 2020 whites were bottled in January 2022 under the Diam brand composite cork after having been fined but not filtered. As was the case with the 2019 vintage, I was again very impressed with the quality I found and the domaine just seems to continue to go from strength to strength. 

Burghound 89 Points | Cool and airy aromas are comprised by notes of petrol, white flowers and citrus zest. I like the mouthfeel of the equally tension-filled and mineral-driven middle weight flavors that exhibit evident minerality on the bone-dry, liner and youthfully austere finale. This is also quite good and worth checking out. 

This taut white has an oily texture that envelops lemon oil, sweet corn and green apple skin flavors. Firm and balanced, with toasty oak and baking spice accents emerging on the finish. Drink now through 2026. Winemaker Description.
