Tim Fish writes: Graceful and fragrant, with delicately layered cherry and raspberry flavors laced with rose petal, dusky spices and a hint of fresh forest floor. Ends with refined tannins. Drink now through 2030. - Wine Spectator 94
Audrey Frick writes: Moving to the Domaine Drouhin Oregon lineup from the Dundee Hills, the 2021 Pinot Noir Dundee Hills is ripe with ripe black cherry, fresh licorice, and dark stone. Lush and inviting, with ripe structure and broad shoulders, it is flush with a ripe, meaty texture and warming spice. Allow it another couple of years in the cellar. This is an age-worthy wine to drink 2025-2037. - Jeb Dunnuck 96
James Suckling writes: Fragrant and open pinot with aromas of cherries, wild strawberries, orange zest, nutmeg and white pepper. It’s medium-bodied with silky, creamy tannins. Delicious balance of just-ripe berry fruit and subtle spice. Very long, too. Drink or hold. - James Suckling 94
Anne Krebiehl MW, Justin Knock MW, Dirceu Vianna Junior MW write: Aromatic and ripe, dark fruit combined with notes of dried herbs and a touch of spice. Embellished oak lends richness, but the palate is fresh, refined and savoury. Opulent and well-executed in style. - Decanter 92
Our Pinot Noir is handpicked into 25-pound totes, then hand-sorted and de-stemmed in our four level gravity flow winery. Fermentations are long and careful; by November, all of our Pinot was safely resting in barrel. Our barrels are custom made in Burgundy, using oak from France’s best forests, allowing the character of the soil and vintage to show through.
The 2022 Dundee Hills Pinot Noir focuses the complexity of the vintage into a radiant, red ruby hue. The nose is a tight and delightful gathering of tart cherries, peony, pomegranate, red fruits, and wood spice, leading to similar flavors on the palate. Balanced and clear acidity points towards the wine’s customary elegance and longevity. Well-rounded and loveable. Santé!
Critics Notes
"This is complex and layered, with spiced cherries, aged tangerine peel, crushed spices and nutshells. Some licorice notes. Medium- to full-bodied, structured and polished with a firm backbone of very fine tannins and earthy undertones. Lingering finish."
