Anthony Road Cabernet Franc Lemberger 2020
Winemaker Notes
The blending of Cabernet Franc and Lemberger (a.k.a. Blaüfrankisch) began at Anthony Road in 2005. These two wines complement each other and provide a consistently strong red wine every vintage.
Blend: 50% Cabernet Franc, 50% Lemberger
92 Points James Suckling: I love the ripe forest-berry aromas of this elegant, mid-weight red. Generous fruit and plenty of healthy tannins on the medium-bodied palate. Long, positively dry finish.
Domaine Raymond Usseglio & Fils "Vielles Vignes" Chateauneuf Du Pape Kosher 2021 750ml
This third-generation family domaine, of Italian origin, is today run by Raymond’s son, Stéphane Usseglio. The estate counts 24-hectares in Châteauneuf-du-Pape, all of which have been managed biodynamically since 2011. Their vineyards are divided equally between the galet-strewn parcels around Orange, the sandy soils of Courthézon and the alluvial, clay soils of the Crau plateau and the village of Bédarrides. Stéphane continues to innovate, using small, new oak barrels alongside the traditional foudres, as well as experimenting with concrete and terracotta amphorae of varying shapes and sizes.
These winemaking techniques enhance the characteristics of each grape variety, carefully highlighting the particularities of each.
Stéphane’s 2021 wines are a great success, albeit 20-25% down in volume against their average yield. The wines show their trademark power and structure; but as we’ve seen with other producers, they also have lower levels of alcohol and higher acidity than the last two vintages. While this freshness makes them more approachable in youth than in some years, their structure will ensure they are nonetheless worthy of cellar ageing. They are wines to return to throughout their ageing process.
This rich wine has notes of flowers, cherries and spice.
Pursued by Bear Baby Bear Syrah 2018 750ml
Winemaker Description
From an outstanding vintage marked by a long, slow ripening season, the 2018 Baby Bear Syrah is a handsome, intensely colored wine loaded with wild blackberry, fresh blueberry, and dark, spicy aromas and flavors. A streak of olive tapenade, smoked charcuterie, and freshly cracked black pepper add interest across a textured palate laced with silky tannins and vibrant acidity. The finish is long and refined.
Expert Reviews
Wine Spectator 94 Points | Impeccably balanced and refined yet plump with personality, this red offers multilayered blueberry and huckleberry flavors accented by black olive and smoky cracked pepper. Finishes with rich, polished tannins.
James Suckling 93 points | A tad reductive on the nose, so be sure to let this breathe. Hot stones, wild herbs, ripe plums, blackberries and vanilla on the nose. Full-bodied with fine tannins. Vibrant and complex. Atop the core of ripe dark fruit there is ground baking spice, oregano and white pepper. Very steady. Drink or hold.
Ramirez de Ganuza Rioja Reserva 2013 750ml
Winemaker Description
The flagship of the winery, the Reserva is made mostly from Tempranillo (85%) with splashes of Graciano, Viura and Malvasia. The vines are on average about 60 years of age, and the wine is aged for over two years in new French oak.
With six vineyards situated in the foothills of the Cantabrian mountain range, Remírez de Ganuza blends some of the best terroirs from Rioja Alavesa and Rioja Alta. The combination of high elevation, clay/limestone soils, increased oceanic influence, and 50 year old average vines produces low-yielding vines with exceptional quality.
A decadent nose, bristling with fresh cherry and vanilla, belies a palate of equally pristine fruit. Balance between the acidic and tannic structures is harmonious, playing gently yet firmly off one another for a refined experience.
Expert Review
Wine Enthusiast 93 Points | Smooth aromas of mature berry fruits and plum amount to a silky whole touched up by café mocha. A saturated palate is packed with pulpy black fruit, while this tastes of blackberry, tobacco, coffee and oak. A smooth finish with a meaty texture and chocolaty notes concludes this dense holdover from a cold year.
Vietti Barolo Rocche di Castiglione Organic 2020 750ml
Winemaker Description
Ruby-red color. The nose is complex and elegant. Notes of dry flowers, hay and rose petal, accompanied by a hint of chamomile. It is fresh, balanced, silky, enveloping and full-bodied on the palate. The tannins are prominent yet well-integrated. The finish is long and persistent. We recommend decanting a few hours before serving.
Expert Reviews
Jeb Dunnuck 98 Points | A medium red hue, the 2020 Barolo Rocche Di Castiglione offers more complexity and is more nuanced in the glass, with notes of dried raspberries, tangerine, roses, dried herbs, and cedar. Medium-bodied, it is crunchy with an elegant feel but has balanced structure and retains a somewhat more chiseled feel that’s true to the vintage. It has a lot to enjoy now and also has a wide drinking window. Drink 2025-2050.
The Wine Advocate 96 Points | The Vietti 2020 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is a very delineated wine with sharp ferrous notes, cherry cola, redcurrant and chalky mineral. It is extremely precise in terms of its aromas. The effect is direct and layered, showing different sides and increasing complexity as it opens in the glass. Dried floral notes, purple flower and iris also appear delicately. The chalky tannins feel abrupt at this young stage, but this wine is built to last nonetheless. Only 3,512 bottles were created.
Vinous 96 Points | The 2020 Barolo Rocche di Castiglione is a magical wine from a magical site. It marries finesse and volume to a degree that is not found in most of the other wines in this range. Castiglione Falletto is the center of the Barolo production zone, literally and figuratively, the place where many different soil types meet. As a result, the wines often possess mind-blowing balance, which is very much the case here.
Chateau de Saint Cosme LE CLAUX Gigondas 2019 750ml
Winemaker Description
The soil at Le Claux is a yellowish limestone marl and produces the most “Burgundian” wine at Saint Cosme. “It’s extremely refined and fresh with lots of bouquet. Its propensity to mature is excellent,” says Barruol. The wine features aromas and flavors of wild strawberries, violet, peat, Chinese Five Spice, and camphor.
Grenache is the pale-colored, red-fruited, and potpourri-scented red grape variety of the southern Rhône and can be paired with both rustic and sophisticated dishes. Full-bodied Grenache-based wines are ideal with stews, braises, and grilled meats, while lighter versions can work well with dark fish and tomato-based dishes such as ratatouille.
Expert Reviews
Wine Spectator 97 Points | This is packed together, with taut iron cables providing a platform for mouthwatering bitter plum, cassis and blackberry reduction flavors. Sage, bay tobacco and warm earth notes play equally important roles, adding superior range and depth. Everything pulls together through the finish, though the end point takes some time to reach. Best from 2025 through 2040. (2019).
Jeb Dunnuck 97 Points | The 2019 Gigondas Les Claux is one of the powerful yet elegant wines and offers a great bouquet of red and black fruits, graphite, crushed stone, and spice. It’s full-bodied and tannic and needs time, but the balance is spot on, the tannins are perfectly ripe and polished, and it has a gorgeous finish. Give it 2-4 years and enjoy over the following 15+ TASTING DATE 1/25/2022. (2019).
Domaine Meo Camuzet Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgers 2020 750ml
Expert Reviews
Wine Advocate 92 Points | Notes of cherries, cassis, peonies and rich spices preface the 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgers, a medium to full-bodied, velvety and concentrated wine that's lively and penetrating. Like its 2019 predecessor, it's especially seamless and charming. (2020).
Burghound 90 Points | A distinctly earthy and notably ripe nose blends notes of red and dark currant with those of earth, humus and a whiff of the sauvage. The rich, dense and powerful larger-scaled flavors are supported by mouth coating tannins on the chewy, long and moderately rustic finale. This bold and robust effort is very good, but I would recommend it only for the patient. (2020).
Eyrie Vineyards Pinot Noir ROLAND GREEN Willamette Valley 2015 750ml
Expert Review
Vinous 94 Points | Shimmering red. Spice-accented raspberry and cherry aromas, along with a powerful floral topnote that gains power as the wine opens up. Silky and energetic on the palate, offering alluringly sweet, sharply delineated red fruit, spicecake and rose pastille flavors that show a suave blend of depth and litheness. Fine-grained tannins build slowly on a very long, spice-tinged finish that shows excellent clarity and a zesty mineral quality.
Grgich Hills Zinfandel Napa Valley 2019 750 ML
Winemaker Description
This elegant, fruity Zinfandel brims with inviting aromas of cherry, raspberry, and blackberry intermixed with hints of cranberry and blood orange. Graceful and soft on the front palate, the flavors of mixed red berries and the lively tannins add luscious texture throughout the mid-palate, balanced with perfectly integrated acidity. Its long finish reveals spicy undertones and a superb freshness that will allow it to age beautifully for many years.
Expert Ratings- Vintage 2019
Decanter 92 Points | Opulent and lavish nose of menthol, cassis and spice, palate of dark fruit, redcurrant, bramble and spicy oak. Decanter World Wine Awards
Wine Review Online 92 Points | This Zinfandel is a breath of fresh air. Unlike the Zins of a decade ago, this one is not dark or inky on the pour but an elegant medium ruby. On the nose, typical aromas of strawberry jam and sweet cherry come through, but even on the nose, the heightened acidity of the wine is detectable. These jammy notes carry through on the palate, where they are met with a kiss of vanilla, fine-grained tannins, and a moderate 14.5% alcohol. As the aromas alluded to, the acidity is indeed lifted and fresh. This wine showcases well what Zinfandel can do when approached with finesse.
Far Niente Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2022 750ml
James Suckling | Very precisely polished and focused wine with aromas of black cherries, blue berries and violets followed by green bell pepper, black ink and gravel. Underlying umami notes, too. Full-bodied, firm yet finely grained juicy tannins with bright acidity that balances out the palate. Beautifully integrated toasty notes and baking spices on the mid-palate and in the finish. Flourishing and artful wine that will age gracefully.
Jeb Dunnuck | The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley checks in as 88% Cabernet Sauvignon with the balance Merlot, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Cabernet Franc, aged 17 months in 62% new French oak. Its deep purple hue is followed by a rich, inward, nicely concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon that has both red and black fruits, some spicy, chocolaty, herbal, and tobacco nuances, medium to full body, ripe tannins, and a beautiful finish. It's not massive by any means, but it s beautifully balanced and has a layered mouthfeel along with rock-solid depth and character. Give bottles 2-3 years if you can and enjoy over the following 15.
Robert Parker | Generous scents of ripe cherries emerge on the nose of the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley, joined by hints of cedar, vanilla, dried herbs and some darker berries. Full-bodied and velvety in texture, it's a fine representation of Napa Valley Cabernet; it's just lacking the extra depth and complexity to elevate it to the absolute top rank.
Beautiful aromas of dark plum, red cherry, licorice and warm baking spices open onto a plush and silky palate layered with plum, spiced cherry and cassis. A classic Napa Valley Cabernet, fine-grained tannins and lively acidity support the wine throughout, while the finish is refined and polished. Winemaker Description.
Domaine Serene PINOT NOIR Yamhill Cuvee 2021 750ml
Wine Enthusiast 94 points Editors' Choice "The savory qualities of the Yamhill Cuvée's aromatics are a mix of red-currant compote, saline and roasted pork shoulder. The blackcap raspberry and blueberry flavors found on the slippery-textured palate are sweet and ripe. Velvety tannins are a nice match for the wine's crisp acidity. Serve with your next Cubano sandwich."
James Suckling 93 points "Full of oak spices and fresh-crushed raspberry and cherry aromas followed by slightly riper red plums and strawberries. Refreshing light tannins, a medium body and the exuberant fruit give a friendly, approachable appeal. One of the winery’s most widely available pinots."
Decanter Magazine 92 points "The Yamhill Cuvée is a blend across the Domaine Serene estates. This wine is blended to arrive at a particular signature with warm red and blue berry fruits, white pepper and rum cake notes. The palate is a balancer of sweet red berries, ripe Italian plums and a hint of savory garrigue."
The Wine Advocate 92 points "The 2021 Pinot Noir Yamhill Cuvée, has pure scents of cranberry, cinnamon, potpourri and bitters. The medium-bodied palate offers generous layers of dark red, spicy fruit. It has a silky texture, bright acidity and a long, layered finish."
Winemaker Notes
Dashe Cellars Dry Creek Valley Lily Hill Vineyard Zinfandel Late Harvest 2018 375ml HALF BOTTLE SWEET
Winemaker Description
We create the conditions for making Late Harvest Zinfandel by allowing the grapes to hang on the vine approximately 3--4 weeks after they normally would be picked for a dry wine. These grapes were picked on October 30th on a beautiful Fall day, and the grapes arrived at the winery at 40° Brix of sugar. We crushed the grapes into a small 1,500-gallon tank and as is our tradition at Dashe Cellars, we fermented the grapes naturally, using the native yeasts that naturally live on the skins of the grapes. We let the grapes macerate to gain color and flavor, and then allowed the tank to warm.
The fermentation took off quickly, and then naturally halted when the alcohol had reached about 15.5% and the sugar level was about 9%. We always allow the wine to achieve its balance of sweetness and alcohol naturally, by letting the fermentation finish on its own.
The wine was aged in older French oak barrels so as to not overpower the intensity of the fruit. We bottled the wine as soon as possible to maintain its fresh fruit flavors and conserve its sweet concentration and purity. The wine is unfined and received minimal handling to the bottle.
Kanzler Pinot Noir Russian River Valley 2020 750ml
Winemaker Description
The blend is dominated by the Estate Vineyard, yet the significant percentage of Walker—Kanzler's Green Valley vineyard—bends the wine in an exciting red-note direction: hibiscus, rhubarb and red licorice. The aromatics deliver fresh berries, cola, white pepper and pine sap. Fig notes emerge on the palate with a spicy, black tea finish. Modest whole cluster and slightly more new oak make the wine soft and approachable, while bright acid keeps it fresh, juicy, and well-knit.
Chateau Troplong Mondot Saint-Emilion 2020 750ml
Wine Enthusiast | This firmly structured wine with its high percentage of Merlot is powerful and dense. The bold black fruits and perfumed density are impressive.
Jeb Dunnuck | A clear step up over the 2019, the 2020 Château Troplong Mondot is mostly Merlot yet includes 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, all of which was raised in 65% new French oak, with the balance in once-used barrels. The level of purity and finesse here is remarkable, and it reveals a deep ruby/purple hue as well as incredible aromatics of cassis, ripe black cherries, graphite, gunpowder, and spring flowers. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has building, perfectly ripe tannins, flawless balance, and a great finish. Certainly light years away from the riper, more opulent style of the 2000's, the wines today under consultant Thomas Duclos are much more about finesse and elegance. While I certainly miss the sexy, riper style of the past, there is no denying the incredible quality from this château today.
Robert Parker | The 2020 Troplong Mondot is composed of 85% Merlot, 13% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Cabernet Franc, harvested from 4th September and lasting for about three weeks. The pH is 3.53, the IPT (tannin index) is 75 and the alcohol is 14.5%. Opaque purple-black colored, it opens with a vivacious burst of black fruits—stewed plums, baked blackberries and boysenberries—giving way to a fragrant undercurrent of licorice, ground cloves, cinnamon stick and lilacs, with a touch of bouquet garni. The full-bodied palate is chock-full of plump, juicy black fruits and savory sparks, framed by fantastically ripe, fine-grained tannins and bold freshness, finishing long and opulent.
James Suckling | A soft and round red with plum and milk chocolate. Hazelnuts. Full-bodied and layered. Juicy. Hints of sea salt. Power is there. Turns firm and vivid. So attractive now. Savory. Needs three to four years to open.
Decanter | This sets out its stall as a wine from a specific plot of pure limestone soils straight away, and this is a second wine to savour. As with last year, this is a masterclass in the impact of this particular soil type, with a bright violet colour, juicy blueberry fruits and touches of redcurrant. It has a tingling finish with a whoosh of salinity that gives tension and balance. 30% aged in barrels, the rest stays in stainless steel. 3.53pH. Still 100% Merlot as last year, but that will probably change in 2021 when some Cabernet Franc should be added. Not sold as an En Primeur, the 2018 has just been released onto the market. September 4 was the first day of picking.

Winemaker Description
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione DOCG “Zac” is 100% Sangiovese from the Gugliaie vineyard (2.5 ha). It is dedicated to Anna Corsini, the sister of Prince Tommaso and it represents the new challenges of the winery.
Expert Review
93 Points Wine Enthusiast | A blend of organically farmed Sangiovese and 15% Merlot, this has aromas of forest floor, blue flower, sandalwood and crushed mint. Full-bodied and elegantly structured, the savory palate features dried Marasca cherry, blood orange, star anise and black tea set against taut, fine-grained tannins. Drink through 2028. (2018).
Rombauer Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley 2019 375ml HALF BOTTLE
Wine Enthusiast | This deep and concentrated wine is as smooth as silk, scented with black currants, spearmint and a touch of toast, then soothes the palate with velvety tannins and lush, ripe fruit flavors. While easy to sip, it has a subtle, restrained tannin structure.
PointsJames Suckling | Aromas of blackberries and currants with spicy herbs, pine wood and crushed rocks. Medium- to full-bodied, sleek and polished with soft tannins and silky texture. Juicy, blue-fruited finish. Drink now.
PointsWinemaker Description
The color is intense and beautiful, almost black with purple, reddish hues. Aromas of black cherry, cassis, piecrust, spice, and mint mingle and leap from the glass. The palate is full and concentrated with similar aromas but also featuring black currant and sweet red cherry with the mild presence of oak, seamlessly integrated. Signature finely structured tannins and balanced acidity give way to a long finish which continues to build after that last sip.
Blend: 93% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Petit Verdot, 4% Cabernet Franc. Winemaker Description.
Domaine Arlaud Morey Saint Denis Biodynamic 2021 750ml
Neal Martin writes: The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Village is quite backward on the nose, blackberry and bilberry at the moment, a distinct marine element surface with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit tinged with orange rind and brown spices. Fine structure towards the finish although here, I would just like a little more finesse to develop. - Drinking 2024 to 2032. - Vinous
William Kelley writes: The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis Village is a blend of En Sevrey and Clos Solon. Delivering aromas of smoky red berries, raw cocoa and forest floor, it's medium-bodied, supple and perfumed, with melting tannins and a charming middle-weight style. - Robert Parker Wine Advocate
Allen Meadows writes: Here too there is enough reduction to suppress the underlying fruit. The palate impression though of the more substantial flavors is vibrant and well-detailed, particularly on the lengthier and better-balanced finale. This could use more depth but that should reasonably occur with time. - Burghound
Domaine Arlaud Chambolle Musigny Biodynamic 2021 750ml
Expert Reviews
Wine Advocate 88-90 Points | Derived from holdings in La Buissière, Les Herbues, Les Chardanes and Les Gammaires, the 2021 Chambolle-Musigny is another pretty middle-weight, offering up aromas of red berries, peonies and spices, followed by a medium-bodied, ample and enveloping palate.
Domaine du Pelican Arbois Trois Cepages 2021 750ml
Winemaker Description
Guillaume d'Angerville's interest in the Jura wine region was awakened by a Parisian sommelier who served him a Chardonnay from this area "blind" a few years ago. Angerville was convinced that he had a Burgundy in his glass, and the surprise was great when the wine was unveiled.
This experience sparked the idea of running a second winery next to his famous domaine in Volnay. Together with his long-time oenologist François Duvivier, with the advice of a geologist, he searched and investigated very specifically and found a 10-hectare winery in Montigny-les-Arsures in the Arbois appellation and presented the first wines with the 2012 vintage, which immediately caused great interest in the international wine scene.
The Domaine du Pélican, named after the heraldic animal of Arbois, produces only three wines, a mineral Chardonnay, a characterful, non-oxidative (“ouillé”) Savagnin and a regionally typical red wine cuvée made from approx. 2/3 Pinot Noir as well as parts of Trousseau and Pulsard.
Chateau De La Maltroye Chassagne Montrachet ROUGE 1er Cru La Boudriottes 2021 750ml
Winemaker Description

Expert Review
Allen Meadows of Burghound writes 91 Points | This is aromatically more restrained if a bit more elegant with a mix of red cherry, plum and pretty floral wisps. There is again excellent volume and a highly seductive texture to the powerful yet refined flavors that deliver very fine length on the dusty, firm and ageworthy finish. (Drink starting 2029). (2021).
Domaine Parent Pommard 2021 750ml
Winemaker Description
A classic Pommard with a good structure. A complex nose with hints of red fruits, spices and flowers. The mouth is well balanced and structured, with ripe and sweet tannins.
Domaine Pierre Gelin Fixin 1er Cru Clos Napoleon 2020 750ml
Winemaker Description
The old vines of Clos Napoléon yield pure, well-balanced wine with high-toned notes of cherry, earth, and wood spice, combined with depth and length on the palate. This is one of the richer, more structured wines of the Fixin appellation.
Expert Reviews
Wine Spectator 93 Points | Perfumed and pure, this red exudes black cherry, blackberry, violet and spice aromas and flavors. Silky and fresh, delivering harmony and a long, mouthwatering finish. The aftertaste echoes the ripe, dark fruit and spice elements. (2019).
Wine & Spirits 90 Points | When this 4.5-acre monopole became part of the domaine in 1950, it was not being farmed. Pierre Gelin planted the vines, which are now elders cultivated under organics by his grandson, Pierre-Emmanuel. They grew an intense and powerful Fixin in 2019, the wine’s ripeness highlighted in black-cherry roundness. Bright and fragrant, this has settled into its smoky tannins, bringing gamey meat and iron notes in the end. For the cellar. (2019).
Chateau Lascombes Margaux 2010 750ml
Winemaker Description
Combining power and elegance and an unctuous and tannin-rich texture, Chateau Lascombes is a complex wine. In its youth, it always has an amazingly deep color. On the palate, finesse and a rich texture combine with very stylish fine-grained tannins.
Expert Reviews
Jeb Dunnuck 96 Points | The 2010 Château Lascombes is flat-out gorgeous and might be the finest vintage from this château I've tasted. Based on 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot that was raised in 90% new French oak, it has a dense purple/plum hue as well as a blockbuster-like style in its darker currants, cassis, smoky tobacco, incense, and graphite aromas and flavors. (2010).
Decanter 94 Points | Lascombes in 2010 has exuberance and precision and confidence, and a sense of fun. At the 10 year mark the power of the tannins is clear and evident. It's a big, concentrated, exuberant wine but it has delicacy and construction and persistency. (2010).
James Suckling 94 Points | What a wonderful nose of ripe strawberries and hints of vanilla. Full body with soft and velvety tannins and a long, long finish. This is luscious and sexy. (2010).
Wine Enthusiast 92 Points | Wood-driven tannins dominate at this stage, creating a wine that is structured and dense. The tannins are layered with the weight of the black currant and plum fruits. Lascombes is still finding its style, but is definitely on the upward slope. (2010).
Robert Parker's 92 Points | Deep garnet in color, the 2010 Lascombes gives up notes of dried herbs, tilled soil and black olives over a blackcurrant cordial and plums preserves core plus a touch of crushed rocks. Medium to full-bodied, the palate delivers chewy tannins and bold freshness to support the savory flavors, finishing with an herbal lift. (2010).
Wine Spectator 91 Points | Dark and nicely toasty, with ample espresso and ganache up front, followed by steeped fig, blackberry and black currant fruit that rumbles through the finish. Features ample tarry grip, but eschews minerality and finesse for a direct and toast-driven approach. (2010).
Nalle Zinfandel Dry Creek Valley 2020 750ml
Winemaker Description
The 2020 Nalle Dry Creek Valley Zinfandel is bright and fruit forward in style, but with Dry Creek’s classic zin-berry aromatics of cherry and strawberry. Smooth tannins and good midpalate weight, are a result of fresh berries and not raisins.
Plumpjack Oakville Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2021 750ml
Expert Review - Vintage 2021
Vinous 95 Points | The 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate is rich, racy and super-expressive. Silky and deep, with notable resonance, the 2021 offers up dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, spice, menthol, new leather and licorice. Today, it is a very young wine in need of cellaring, but its potential is evident. Dollops of Petit Verdot and Malbec round out the blend. This should be positively stellar.
Winemaker Description
The nose of the 2021 PlumpJack Estate Cabernet Sauvignon leads with juicy fruits – black cherry, boysenberry, blackberry jam, and muddled mixed berries. The fruit is layered with fresh mint, sage, and iron filings. These aromas are complemented by warming spices, vanilla, and cocoa nib. The palate has a beautiful, velvety texture with plush tannin and an enduring finish with impressions of espresso and dark chocolate.
Ovid NAPA VALLEY Red Blend Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot 2016 750ml
Winemaker Description
The 2016 OVID Napa Valley reflects the pleasure and opulence of the long and nearly perfect growing season from that created it. This wine’s dense and powerful palate is complemented by freshness and vibrancy that give it tremendous poise. Expansive aromas of mulberry, fresh crushed raspberry, licorice, forest floor and pen ink are just beginning to tell the tale of a spectacular season.

99 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate : Blended of 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and 3% Petit Verdot, the deep garnet-purple colored 2016 Proprietary Red Wine gives bright, vivacious scents of crushed red and black cherries, blackcurrants and warm plums with vibrant wafts of lilacs, powdered cinnamon, black pepper and fenugreek plus hints of wild sage and iron ore. Medium to full-bodied with a very firm structure of wonderfully ripe, grainy tannins and seamless freshness, it has a taut, muscular fruit profile laced with loads of energetic red and black fruit sparks with a very long, spicy finish. Wow!
98 Points Jeb Dunnuck: Lastly, the 2016 Cabernet Sauvignon comes from a vintage described as similar to 2015, only with a normal-sized crop. This inky colored beauty has some similarities to the 2014 with its perfectly balanced, elegant, yet powerful style. Made from 66% Cabernet Sauvignon, 23% Cabernet Franc, 8% Merlot and the rest Petit Verdot, it hits the palate with full-bodied richness, an incredible display of finesse paired to power, remarkable sweetness of fruit, and a finish that leaves you looking for another sip. Another heavenly wine from this estate, I’d put this in the list of desert island wines for yours truly.
95 Points Decanter Magazine: In 2017 Ovid was sold to the Duncan family of Silver Oak, but Austin Peterson stayed on as winemaker. There are intense blackcurrant aromas on the nose, which is direct and lifted, giving real finesse. For a Pritchard Hill Cabernet it shows a light touch, with moderate tannins and good acidity. It's succulent but also shows ample grip on the finish. Very long with a solid finish - this clearly needs time. Drinking Window 2021 - 2040Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2022 through 2037.
94 Points Wine Spectator: Sleek and ripe up front, with warm cassis and plum puree notes leading the way, turning broader and more muscular through the finish, where red licorice, fruitcake and tar flavors fill in. Should unwind slowly, as a strong buried iron detail emerges here as well. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot and Petit Verdot. Best from 2022 through 2037.

95 Points Vinous | The 2021 Barbera d'Alba Vigna Francia is fabulous. Rich and expansive, with tremendous presence, the 2021 is positively stellar. Super-ripe dark cherry, lavender, spice and pomegranate all gain volume and intensity with time in the glass. The 2020 is one of the finest recent editions of the Francia Barbera I can remember tasting. Today, it's explosive, heady personality is impossible to resist. (2021).
