The 2021 Brendel Cooper’s Reed Cabernet Sauvignon is a fresh and vibrant take on Napa Valley’s famed grape varietal. Harvested under moonlight, the fruit is crushed at cool temperatures and then thoughtfully monitored throughout fermentation. After a 7-10 day fermentation, the wine is gently pressed to oak casks where it is allowed to mature for 9 months prior to bottling. Joe Czerwinski writes: The 2019 Cooper's Reed Cabernet Sauvignon includes fruit from young vines and high-vigor sites in St Helena, Rutherford and Calistoga. It's 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and 100% Napa Valley, not always the case for wines in this price range. It's minty, herbal and dusty, with cherries and tobacco joining in. Medium to full-bodied, it's bright, fresh and taut, with a crisp, slightly greenish edge to the long, racy finish. A lighter, more quaffable style of Cabernet Sauvignon...Brendel is a new label created by the team behind Heitz Cellars, in effect taking some of the niche varieties out of the Heitz portfolio and allowing that label to focus on classic Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay.
