Winemaker Description
A Welschriesling local wine from various vineyards around Rechnitz from 15 to 35-year-old vines. Somewhat reductive on the nose of baked apples, Kletzenpirne, some quince, honeydew melon and nuances of lemon zest and sage.
On the palate, a smart texture with a fresh but subtle acidity, again the slightly tart of a pear, delicate phenolics from the skin contact, plus herbal nuances, slightly smoky minerality, remains very demanding until the end. A real alternative to Veltliner!
Organic. 85 year old Hungarian clone Welschriesling. Manual harvest. Spontaneous fermentation and aged in stainless. Fined with clay (bentonite) and unfiltered. Minimal sulfur at bottling. Fresh acidity. Multi-layered, mineral-driven, delicate nuances of yellow apples and herbs.
