Late spring of 2017 I had the pleasure to be in Rioja and although a late frost damaged some of the buds, the quality in what survived is fairly consistent. 

Aromas of plum compote, cassis and notes of cinnamon and cloves. Medium-bodied with polished and pleasant tannins. Consistent and satisfying finish. Pair with beef-stews or any rice dishes such as Shrimp-fried rice.

 

James Suckling writes: Notes of dark fruit, cloves, licorice, spiced oak, walnuts and stoney soil. Medium-bodied with firm, dusty tannins, bright acidity and a round texture. Fine-grained and balanced, with delicious fruit and a lingering finish. Drink or hold. - James Suckling 92
