Josh Raynolds writes: Opaque ruby. Ripe dark berries, cherry pit and licorice on the spice-accented nose. Lush and appealingly sweet, offering juicy blackberry and cherry flavors that take on a smoky nuance with air. Closes spicy and long, with a hint of licorice and round, even tannins. Drinking 2022 - 2028. - Vinous 90

James Suckling writes: Aromas of ripe blackberries, dark cherries, dried herbs and spice box. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine, supple tannins and tangy acidity. Juicy and nicely spiced. Try after 2023. - James Suckling 92

One of my favorite Rioja Producers! Located in the town of Haro, Bodegas Martinez Lacuesta blends tradition and innovation with all of their wines. Nose: Cassis, dried herbs, and smoke meat. Palate: Medium-bodied with structure and medium tannins. Savory finish. Ideal to accompany any lamb dishes or poultry.
- Oscar Garcia, 67 Wine Buyer

A classic Spanish red wine from DOCa Rioja, Martínez Lacuesta Reserva is made essentially from Tempranillo, complemented with Graciano and Mazuela (the local name of Carignan).
The grapes were sourced from vineyards surrounding the facility of bodega Martínez Lacuesta, at 450 metres of altitude. The vines are 20 to 35 years old.
Traditionally vinified in stainless steel tanks, after a 4 day maceration this Rioja red wine was fermented for 20 to 25 days under controlled temperature.
After that, Martínez Lacuesta Reserva 2011 was aged for 32 months in new and semi-new American oak barrels. The the wine was bottled and aged for a further 42 months until its commercial release.

Pedro Ballestero Torres MW, Sarah Jane Evans MW and Amaya Cervera write: Good aromatic definition, clean and precise, very classic. Round, intense and soft, warm but with balanced acidity, quite long. A developed style of wine that will keep for at least seven years. Archetypical reserva. - Decanter 92

James Suckling writes: Currants, plums, dried herbs, bark, earth and dried spices on the nose. Medium-to full-bodied with round tannins. Pretty herb and spice notes. Flavorful finish. Tempranillo, graciano and mazuelo. Drink now or hold. - James Suckling 91
