Bart Hopkins of 67Wine.com | Chateau Gravelle is a 17 hectare organic estate run by a mother and daughter team located in the heart of Sevre et Maine. Their 2018 Muscadet, aged sur lie for added texture, is crisp, bone dry, and well rounded in the mouth with finely detailed mineral complexity.
Typical of good Muscadet, made from the Melon de Bourgogne grape, this is a highly sophisticated wine, softly spoken yet profoundly articulate, fashionably elegant and refined, a charismatic partner to a multitude of eclectic food pairings. Always perfect with seafood, especially oysters, it also pairs exceptionally well with vegetarian dishes, poultry and it’s also a nice dry white to sip casually.
Winemaker Description
The property is located in Gorges, at the heart of Nantes, and is one of the oldest estates of the Muscadet region. Formerly a 300-hectare property that was split up during the French Revolution, the 12 hectare estate is situated on the top of a hill with a windmill typical of the Nantes area.
This wine is a Muscadet typical of the region with much body and liveliness. It is best served shellfish such as lobster and crawfish, but it is also the perfect companion to fish and other seafood. It can also be appreciated on its own as an aperitif. Because of its structure, it goes well with buttery dishes.~Winery Notes
