Anthony Road Skin Ferment Pinot Gris 2020 (Orange), 95 pts JS 750ml

No reviews

The 2020 growing season started out cool and dry which resulted in late bud break and flower bloom. The late Spring and Summer was warm and dry with cool nights. This diurnal shift resulted in very ripe fruit with fresh acidity. As harvest approached, the vines were free of disease pressure and the grapes were clean, ripe and fresh with the resulting wines showing power and balance.
Harvest dates: September 25, 2020
Vineyard: Nutt Road PG2 Block
Winemaking Notes: The fruit was machine harvested and fermented in a one ton bin. Once fermentation began, punch downs were administered once a day. Once fermentation ended the wine was racked off of the skins into stainless steel tank. The wine also spent time softening and again in neutral French oak barrel before bottling.
Bottling date: June 24, 2021
Tasting Notes: Aromas and flavors of cherry, black berry, orange zest and dried leaf.

James Suckling 95 points A totally amazing wine for this grape, which is so often rejected by wine geeks as too boring! Tons of candied-orange and Assam-tea character. Stunning structure and super freshness, in spite of the moderate acidity. Long, complex and textural finish. Drink or hold. Screw cap.--James Suckling, 95pts
